DJ JS-1 - DEMOLITION MIX
It's finally here... The 3 hour long "DEMOlition Mix" is complete. For the past year or two i collected a bunch of demos from many of our favorite hip hop artists. I have a collection of approximately 350 to 400 demos and rare tracks. I narrowed that down to my favorite 100 and made this mix. There is a few things to keep in mind about this new mix. First, these are all demos, many of them from cassette tapes, poorly recorded, duplicated n copied over the years, played on radio shows, etc, so the sound quality is not top notch. The sound is the best it could be considering what this is. i had to leave out several of the famous Wu Tang demos and some Mobb Deep demos because of the extremely poor quality. Second, when i say demo, i mean that lightly. Many of these are actual "demos" in the traditional sense of the first recordings they made to shop for record deals. Others are unreleased songs, some that are not completed, some are songs that have been released but this is the original version or unreleased remix. Some are just very rare unreleased songs that i wouldn't necessarily classify as a "demo". And finally, these are my favorites. Like i said, i have 400, so i picked the ones i personally like to listen to the most. Please do not contact me to tell me which rare demo you know of that i missed or didn't play unless you are emailing me the file and thanking me for making such an unmatched plethra of mixtapes. Also,  I'm sure there is demos and freestyles from wocka flocka, drake's uni-brow, mac miller's cousin and asap rocky's partner asap bullwinkle, but i used songs from only the greatest like krs-one, biggie, rakim, kool g rap, big daddy kane, nas, run dmc, tribe, del, organized konfusion, lord finesse, etc...  For most people this is getting 3 hours and almost 100 songs by your favorite classic hip hop groups that are brand new, but made in the golden era years. It's really a nice treat and it will take you a while to listen all the way through.

I doubt there is anyone who heard EVERY single track in this mix. Even the biggest hip hop fiend and collector is sure to find something on here to make them look twice. This whole mix is worth it just for the unreleased KRS-ONE and DJ PREMIER track that didn't make the Return of the Boom Bap album. 

Thank You Dj Premier for letting me have that. I promise we won't sell a few thousand white label 12"'s to japan. hahaha. The 3rd Bass and Brand New Heavies track is also a really good one to check out. Of course all the Rakim songs on here are sure to make you press rewind once or twice. I think the DMX track like Unstoppable Force will surprise people. I love the Biggie reference track for Lil Kim. That's been around for the longest, but it's classic and i die laughing everytime he says stuff like "i suck dick better than you." lmao. man, mr. cee must have been loving this track. I wish i had the reference tracks Treach did for Queen Latifah or all the ones everyone did for Dr. Dre. anyways... The first song, with RUN DMC doing the original to the Beastie Boys Slow N Low is really bugged out too. I'd like to know the story behind how soo many different songs were made. For those who never heard the Scenario Freestyle version or the Rampage freestyle with LL Cool J's second verse, then you are in for a big treat! There is also no other mix available that is 3 hours long, with this amount of rare material, and cut up and blended the way i do it. The track-listing should speak for itself. This is certainly a mix for your all-time collection. It is long (3 hours), so the file size is fairly large (270mb), but well worth the download. 

Obviously you can see the amount of time and energy i put into making these special mixes for everyone. I do ask in return that you really help me get these mixes out there on the internet for people to hear. please tell your friends on facebook and twitter. let them know! retweet and post, please. If you work on any official hiphop site, this mix should be posted there. Soo many people have no clue there is still a few djays like myself left that is posting mixes like this. Let's be serious, most mixtpe djays nowadays are charging up-n-coming kids to put their demo on some bullshit mixtape. That's as corny as rappers who think they made mixtapes... But not as bad as rappers n singers who think they dj.

I hope you enjoy this and appreciate the history and super-special rare treats hidden in this mix. Since i have soo many left, this will probably be a volume 1, with volume 2 coming next year. For now, I'd like to thank a bunch of my fellow dj friends, collectors, others who inspire me to do mixes likes this, and those who help me find some of these treats. Thank You....  i don't forget any of you and remember all you do for me. Just you remember that every time you see a fake dj, someone posing as a dj, disrespecting djaying, pleeeease, slap the shit out them. No matter how "hip hop" you think you are and how cool and knowledgeable you perceive yourself to be, there is ALWAYS more to learn and more treats to find. The 80's and 90's for hip hop were not just the same 100 songs every idiot dj has in their serato. There is thousands of songs, so dig, dig, dig, and dig some more...

DJ JS-1 - ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA
I was originally going to drop this mix on Halloween, but i was busy and did not have the time to upload it and all that. Sooo, slightly late,
here it is, my latest mix, "Once Upon A Time in America..."
Over the years i have consistently been giving people free mixes to listen too.  For those who have been supporting me and checking out my mixes, you already know the amount of skill and time that goes into making them. To be honest, i dont hear too many djays coming with skillful and unique mixes too often. Most of the time it's a bunch of nonsense with a whole lot of talking or yelling over it. Nothing worse than generic mixes with nothing but new songs you can hear on the radio. If you see a mix and it's titled something like "HIP HOP #17", LOL,  or something like that, it's probably not that good. I try to have the cover artwork match the music, never play typical crap, and dig a lil deeper to bring some different styles of music to everyone. I'm always happy with my mixes, and dont plan on stopping any time soon. This latest mix is a collection of songs from different genres of music that somewhat fit the theme. NO, it's not a whole mix of cowboy music, lol, but the songs do fit the theme to me. I left out a few obvious ones but included great music from Led Zep, to Nas, to The Beatles, to Tom Petty, to The Gorillaz, Beastie Boys, Johnny Cash, NIN, Rage, Jay Z, Nirvana, The Smiths, etc... this mix spans 80 minutes with over 75 songs blended together with some movies quotes and scratches. Please spread the word and share these free mixes with your friends. Retweeting this page or sharing it on facebook would be helpful to me. 79 minutes of exclusive turntable remixes...
In the mid 90's myself and Dj Spinbad did the "Cold Cutz Remixes (If I Ruled The Radio)" mixtape. We made that mixtape on broken 4-track-cassette recorders. We remixed tons of acapellas, and every song on the mixtape was an exclusive blend we did using turntables only. We re-scratched the song hooks, added sound fx, did some scratch interludes and really set the bar high for mixtape production. To date, that mixtape has reached tens of thousands of people and is considered one of the best mixtapes of all-time. This new mix was not supposed to be the specific part 2 to that mix, but it's done in a similar way and it is the "unofficial" part 2. There is ONLY acapella remixes on this new mix as well. I tried to use acapellas that we didn't use on the first one and also tried to squeeze in some rare ones too. There are some really great acapellas on here like The Symphony (Masta Ace verse), Peter Piper by Run Dmc, Full Clip by Gangstarr, Set It Off by Big Daddy Kane, Eric B is President by Eric B & Rakim, Mama Said Knock You Out by LL Cool J, The Bitch in Yoo by Common, n more... A mix like this is completely opposite of many lazy djays' mixes that let songs play all the way and then talk or play sound fx in between every track. This involves soo much more, and is soo much more fun to make. I used hundreds of different beats and acapellas.

Today most music has become free online and the mixtape game is not what it once was. It's easy to find thousands of mixtapes for free download, i know i posted all of mine for free download at: (www.DJJS1.BLOGSPOT.com)
Sooo, with everything being free, in order to make it worthwhile for someone to possibly purchase a CD, I have continued to make mixes that i noticeable put lots of work into. All i really ask is that people spread the word and get these mixes out there. Please re-post this, email it to your friends, re-tweet this, etc... Lets keep the pressure on all those horrible djays out there and try to keep some respect, honor, dignity and skills to the mixtape legacy.

DJ JS-1 - ONE OF THE BEST YET
I have never done a tribute mix before and personally never felt the need to do one. Many times when someone passes away, everyone does a tribute mix and it's basically an attempt to bring attention to their own name, sell a few mixtapes, etc… Especially the djays who don't normally support or play music from the artist who passed away. A few corny radio stations that NEVER play any guru records were playing his songs all day when he died, and then right back to Wocka Flocka the next day…
When i found out Guru had died i was miserable for a few reasons. First, i'm always miserable, lol, second because Guru is easily one of the few MC's i have listened to the most in my lifetime. The countless songs and style of music he helped pioneer along with dj premier, is pretty much the reason why any of us who still play "real" hiphop are still around. Can you imagine a world without Gangstarr albums? I might have killed myself in 89 instead of 2011. Guru's voice and what he was saying just reached out to all of us and grabbed us in for life. The way he complimented premier's beats, just an mc and an actual dj, not a drug dealer acting like a dj. It was incredible. A simple, monotone style… And that's what makes him even better. It's a lot easier to hold someone's ear and look better than you are with over-the-top flows and exaggerated vocals, but he made hundreds of classics and kept it straight forward, simple and with his unique monotone style.
The way Gangstarr and then later Jazzmatazz incorporated jazz samples and then jazz players was also the start of a way of life for many kids. How many of you have dug through jazz records that you would have NEVER thought of listening too, stoned outta your face, loving some Gangstarr soundin' loops… We used to blast the first jazzmatazz album. Take A Look, Respect The Architect, Watch The Closing doors, etc… Guru kicked knowledge, street shit, personal stuff, and made records for women that men also liked. It would be really hard for someone to match his catalog and life long achievements on record while maintaining such a high level of musical integrity. Always the dopest hip hop beats on Gangstarr albums, and always the highest level of jazz-hiphop fusion on his Jazzmatazz series. So obviously I'm a huge GURU fan and have purchased countless tapes, cd's, and vinyl over and over and over again…
When i found out he passed away i thought about how i would never hear another Gangstarr album again and that REALLY sucks… We listened to No More Mr Nice Guy, Step In the Arena, Daily Operation, etc soooooo much.
I starting thinking of all the Guru tracks, etc… I knew tons of people would be doing tribute's, probably all named the same as mine, lol, but i still felt awkward doing a tribute mix. I did speak to Premier about it, and he said i might as well, and that did make me feel a lil better about it. I just want this particular style of hiphop to be heard as much as possible and not forgotten. I thought i have a good amount of Guru classics, album cuts, and side projects to be able to do a worthy mix. I set aside approx 100 songs i personally liked. There is many i missed, skipped over, etc.. So i did the mix originally for the first time on www.ustream.tv/channel/memory-lane1 (it's still there, my guru mix, live from my house….) Then i decided to make the live mix into an actual mixtape… So here is what i quickly put together. I did do a bunch of work on this but i had to rush it. I am off to do shows and don't have enough time. some levels may be a bit off, etc..
